Annapurna Circuit Trek begins with an exciting drive to lower warmer areas of Nepal Mid-West around Lamjung district. Then, the journey heads higher to a cooler green hill, entering Manang, where the adventure starts from Dharapani Village. The trail follows through lovely woods of rhododendrons and blue pine trees, encountering villages adorned with impressive Buddhist prayer monuments. 

Then the walk reaches Chame, the district headquarters town of Manang, from here onward, the adventure leads to the picturesque Manang Valley. Manang Valley is enclosed by the towering peaks of Pisang, Annapurna massif, and Chulu’s to the north. Enjoy the rest days in Manang, exploring its scenic viewpoints, and then the walk heads to the end of Manang Valley. The real adventure starts on leaving the valley floor with a steep climb to the top of Thorang-La Pass. 

The climb of hard effort rewards you with a breathtaking panorama of the Himalayan range of peaks. Overlooking, the close views of Chulu’s, Annapurna massif with Damodar and Dhaulagiri, as far as Manaslu Himal towards the east. From Thorang-La, the highest point of the adventure, the walk heads towards Mustang areas at Muktinath. The Hindu pilgrimage site, regarded as a holy sanctuary, is the temple dedicated to god Vishnu. 

The name Muktinath means a place of worship and to liberate oneself from sins of a hundred lifetime. Muktinath stands within a windswept and barren Mustang dry landscape. But with grand views of Nilgiri’s and Dhaulagiri peaks. From here, the journey continues towards Kaligandaki Valley. By taking the comfort in a jeep drive, skipping a few days of trekking due to an unavoidable motorable road. The drive leads through the nice Jomsom town headquarters of Mustang areas and past Marpha and Tukuche Villages. Then follow the Kaligandaki River amidst the world’s deepest gorge, sandwiched between staggering Mt. Dhaulagiri and Mt. Annapurna Himal. The drive heads down to the lower warm farm country at Tatopani, a lovely village with natural hot springs to enjoy. From Tatopani, continue the treks with a climb up to the cooler ridge, of Ghorepani village—a famous and popular destination for moderate short treks, situated within a lovely rhododendrons forest.

At Ghorepani, an hour hiking to a popular viewpoint Poon Hill offers stunning sunrise views. Include a 380° panorama of the Snow Mountain range with Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Manaslu with majestic Machhapuchare Himal, the famed Fish-Tail peak. After a glorious morning of grand scenery, the adventure slowly ends as the walk leads downhill to Ulleri Village. An exciting drive brings you Pokhara, the renowned tourist destination in the Himalayas. On reaching scenic Pokhara, the Annapurna Circuit concludes after a marvelous experience around the high hills and valleys of the Annapurna Himalayas.

THE BEST SEASONS FOR ANNAPURNA CIRCUIT TREKKING:

For Annapurna Circuit treks, can enjoy the walks around all seasons of the year except the wet monsoon and summer times. The right favorable and the best seasons are spring and autumn/fall.
Spring begins in early March and ends in May, where most days are bright with sunshine for longer hours. From early 6:30 am till 5 pm, but can get cloudy afternoon sometimes with chances of light snowfall.
Cold morning, late afternoon, and night times, as well with an extra wind-chill factor above 3,000 meters. The afternoon is bright with strong UV (ultraviolet) and requires sunblock’s, sunglasses, hats, and long-sleeved tops. 
Spring is a lively time with wildflowers in seasonal blooms, especially the rhododendrons of various species and colors. 
The next best season is autumn/fall, from September to November, most days are fine and clear for views and walks. But much colder morning, late afternoon, and nighttime, chances of snowfall sometimes. Gets much colder during late afternoon with wind chill factor, however a pleasant season of autumn/fall for Annapurna Circuit treks.

FOODS, ACCOMMODATION ON ANNAPURNA CIRCUIT TREKKING: 

Trekkers will be surprised to find various standards of lodge accommodation on Annapurna Circuit Trek. Starts from Dharapani, after driving to Bhesishar Town around Lamjung towards Manang district. 
The trek ends in Pokhara City, in Kaski district, after walking through Ghorepani. Trekkers have various options as per your budgets. From simple tourist standards to moderate lodge accommodations, having attached baths and toilets. 
The most standard lodge provides common baths and toilets. Extra charge for using hot showers. Around the higher region, the pipeline and plumbing systems freeze, due to minimum cold temperatures in the morning and night time. 
Dining rooms are large and cozy with a fireplace to keep the environment warm, while you enjoy the meals.  All lodges provide a comprehensive food menu, which includes a wide variety of breakfasts, from oats, porridge, and cornflakes. Bread, Chapatti, Pancakes with choices of eggs from scrambled, boiled, poached, and omelets. Followed by hot refreshing drinks, tea, coffee, and drinking chocolates. Lunch and dinner with a list of continental, Indian, Nepali, Chinese, and Tibetan/ Sherpa foods. 
Some lodge restaurants also provide Mexican, Italian, Japanese, and Korean foods, including fresh bakery items. All the dining rooms are bright with lamps run by local hydroelectricity or from solar power. Most lodges provide free internet and Wi-Fi, which is quite, slow and disturbing.

RELIGION AND CULTURES AROUND ANNAPURNA CIRCUIT TREKS:

Although Nepal is dominated by 75% Hindu religion, the higher mountains around the Himalayan range. The Manang people and Thakali of Lower Mustang around Kaligandaki Valley, are interwoven with a Buddhist religion and culture. 
Trekkers will encounter walking around the village, where every house is adorned with Buddhist prayer flags. The village trails with religious monuments of prayer stone walls and spinning wheels. Trekkers will have time to visit the monasteries en route, like the famous Braga Monastery at Manang. The highlander of Manang Valley, the Manang tribe follows the same Buddhist religion and traditions, similar to the early Tibetan predecessors.

Start the wonderful adventure Annapurna Circuit with an exciting overland journey, heading beyond Kathmandu Valley. Following the main country highway, that connects all of Nepal, from east to west. The drive leads to mid-hills around warmer climate towards the Mid-West reaching Bhesishar, the headquarters town of Lamjung district. On arrival transfer into a nice simple hotel or lodge, having time to browse around interesting Bhesishar town.

The morning after a good breakfast another interesting drive to reach the starting point of the trek from Dharapani. The drive follows the Masrsyangdi River for some time through Khudi and Bulbule villages to reach Syange.

From here the drive climbs on a winding hilly road to Jagat Village, above the Masrsyangdi River. Then the drive heads to slow up to Chamje and towards a wide river valley at Tal-Besi Village. The entrance to Manang district, from here a short drive brings you to the cooler area at Dharapani Village. Located on a wide river gorge en route to Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Trekking. At Dharapani enjoy the comfort of a nice mountain lodge for overnight, with the sound of Masrsyangdi River flow.

Start the first day walk to Chame, the headquarters town of Manang areas, a pleasant morning to begin with. Following the wide trail through a nice cool forest of rhododendrons and pine trees to Bagarchap village. Views of Annapurna peak towards the west, as the walk leads to another nice area of Danaque. Village with an apple orchard, from here a steep climb to Timang. A large Gurung Village with stunning views of the Manaslu Himalayan range and Lamjung Himal. An ideal spot for a lunch break, afternoon a gentle walk down to the river towards Kodo Village. From here on gradual ups, for an hour to Chame for an overnight stop in a nice lodge. The town is situated amidst lovely forest surroundings with views of Lamjung Himal, enjoy the leisurely afternoon exploring Chame Town.

From Pisang, the walk follows the river through the densely forested trail to the small village of Brathang. As adventure continues crossing a bridge with climb to a high ridge at Dukure Pokhari with few small lodges. Enjoy the lunch stop with grand views of towering Pisang Peak, afternoon an easy walk downhill to Pisang Village. Pisang Village is located on a windswept dry valley with blue pine trees, beneath the giant Pisang Peak. At Pisang overnight in a nice simple lodge with rooms with a view of surrounding peaks.

Today’s walk leads to the heart of Manang Valley at the main Manang village, an interesting and scenic walk. A short day of trekking, from Pisang Village climb on the gradual path within lovely trees of blue pines and rhododendrons.

The reaching top of a high ridge offers spectacular views of the Manang Valley. Surrounded by Chulu’s towards the north with the Annapurna Himalayan range in the south and Pisang Peak towards north east. From the top, a slow descent to Humde Village with a small airstrip, and then walk to Braga. A small windswept village with an old monastery, on top of a high ridge. Having time to visit the monastery of great religious and cultural interest of Buddhist heritage.

The walk then leads to Manang Village for two overnight stops in the comfort of good lodge accommodation. It also serves a good food menu of great varieties to enjoy and dinner. Rest of the afternoon, explore the interesting Manang Village of impressive traditional Tibetan-style houses. Facing views of Gangapurna, Annapurna II and III with Chulu peaks.

Enjoy a rest day free from the daily routine of packing, Manang offers several short and long hiking. The best is to walk down to the river and climb to a  viewpoint. Provide a close look at Gangapurna Himal Ice Fall and glaciers with Manang small turquoise-colored lake. As well grand vista of Annapurna II and III with Chulu and Pisang Peaks towards the North. After a great scenic hike return for lunch, and the rest of the afternoon at leisure marveling at the beautiful scenery.

From Manang, another short day walk to Yak Kharka, situated en route to Thorang-La Pass. The walk follows with gradual ups on a winding trail towards more dry terrains. As the trek continues with grand views of Chulu West, Gangapurna and Tilicho Peaks. Then ending the morning walk reaching a wide Valley, where Yak Kharka is located with serval nice lodges. Arriving for lunch and overnight halt, the rest of the day enjoy a short hike facing tremendous views of snow peaks.

Another short morning walk to Thorang High Camp, but the gain in altitude makes the pace slower. Heading towards the end of Manang Valley, around dry country, the walk then heads down to a stream. Then with a short steep up, the walk continues on a gentle path reaching Thorang Phedi.

The bottom of the pass, a place with few simple good lodges, has a refreshing stop. A steep slow climb of less than an hour to reach High Camp for lunch and overnight stop. Enjoy the sheer mountain dramatic wilderness, and have a good rest, for the next morning-long climb to Thorang-La Pass.

An early morning starts to reach high Thorang-La Pass before the sun hits with the cold chill factor reaches. The walk starts heading on a gradual path for a start, and then winding up reaching a small glacial pond. Then the climb gets steeper, as you step on top of Thorang-La Pass feeling quite exhausted.

Having a rest and feeling glad overcoming the hardest sections of the adventure and standing on the highest point. Enjoy the spectacular panorama of the surrounding giant snow peaks of Damodar, Dhaulagiri, and Chulu peaks.Includes most of the Annapurna range of peaks, and as far as Manaslu Himal, aftera glorious morning. Morning having time to visit the Muktinath Temple holy complex and its historical 108 water spouts. A sacred and important pilgrimage site for the Hindus, the temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The word Muktinath means to liberate and be free from the sins and birth recycle. After an interesting tour of Muktinath and getting blessed by the priest. From enjoying the drive to Tatopani Village, the journey follows down to Kaligandaki River Valley. Reaching the large town of Jomsom, the headquarters of Mustang district, as the drive continues heading further down. The drive leads past lovely Marpha and Tukuche Villages famous for apple orchards and products. Along with superb views of Nilgiri’s and Dhaulagiri peaks, it then reaches back into a forest of pines and rhododendrons trees.

The road follows to nice village of Kalapani and Lete with a wonderful panorama of the surrounding Snow Mountains. Then drive heads through the world's deepest gorge Kaligandaki River, in between the giant peaks of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. After a scenic and exciting drive reaching lower warmer farm country of paddy fields at Tatopani. A nice and large village with a natural hot spring as the name means for this lovely village, at Tatopani in the comfort of nice good hotels and lodges with views of Nilgiri’s South Peak.

From Tatopani our trek continues, heading across the bridge and then leaving the Kaligandaki River. As climb starts reaching Ghara farm village and then on gradually up to Sikha and Chitre Villages. After good hours of walking through lovely farm villages, and then a steep climb to Ghorepani. A scenic spot amidst a beautiful forest of rhododendrons transfers into a nice lodge. After a good walk from Tatopani of more than 6 hours of climbing.

An early morning hike for an hour to the famous Poon Hill at 3,210 m high for stunning sunrise views. Annapurna Circuit Trekking starts with a moderate climb and walks overlooking exciting views of snow-capped peaks. Most of the walks are on a gradual path through nice villages, the only tough and difficult is a climb to Thorang-La Pass. The rest of the walk is normal with a slight touch of altitude, taking slow with frequent rest in between the walks. Will make the walk enjoyable to overcome the hard and difficult section on a steep uphill climb.


Certainly, it can make the climb tough and hard with steep ups along with the gain in altitude. But heeding slowly with enough rest to catch the breath, makes the climb much easier. As well as you will also be well acclimatized before reaching the highest point on top of Thorang-La Pass.
